From marketing, to promotions, to finance, to production, to product development and design, to logistics, and more. A class like this provides a great opportunity to explore different career opportunities, and start to see where skills, talents, and interests fit into the vast, diverse, and exciting world of business. Please include the following activities in this assignment: In a WORD document, please provide an organized write up on the following steps. Please use this outline as a guide. 1. Using the MCC Career Research resources page (https://libguides.mcckc.edu/mcccareerresearch), read through GUIDE TO EXPLORING MAJORS AND CAREERS, and HOW TO MAKE A CAREER DECISION. 2. Go to the ASSESSMENTS tab, located on the left side of the web page and choose three assessments to take. 3. Provide a write-up, about 1-2 paragraphs each, about each of the assessments you took and discuss your findings. 4. Then, looking at the various parts of the business world we are examining in this class, choose an area that seems interesting to you, and write 1-2 paragraphs about how you think your skills, interests and talents fit into that particular career. 5. Finally, take a quick look online and do a search for that job or career field. a. Note the salary range b. Note any specific education, training, experience, or expertise needed (certifications, software knowledge, etc.) 6. Are your current activities and educational goals moving closer to reaching this career goal? Finally, map out your steps to achieve this career goal using the SMART method. Specific – write a specific goal; I want to become a product development manager. Measurable – it needs to be based on a metric; I plan to earn my degree my degree in Business Administration so I can work in this profession. Attainable – make sure this is something you can actually attain; take it in steps. You want to be a product developer. No one starts out at the top! But you can make a smaller goal that will help you get on the right path. Your first goal could be something like “I want get a degree in business and to get a job working in product promotion for an advertising firm.” A very attainable first step. After that, then set your next attainable goal. Relevant – these are goals that help you make progress with your dream! If you want to be a product developer, learn about companies that develop products, and get a part time job. Time-bound – make a date to reach the finish line! Plan to get a job in a relevant field by a certain date, and get on track to finish your degree in a reasonable time frame.
